As part of the NNRC mission to increase the competence in nuclear science in Norway, the University of Oslo (UiO) and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) have launched new Bachelor and Master programs with significant investments and new hires to support the programs.
Bachelor programs (3 years) taught in Norwegian:
- Kjernefysikk og nuklearteknologi (Nuclear Physics and Technology) at UiO
- Radioaktivitet og miljø (Radioactivity and Environment) at NMBU
Master programs (2 years) taught in English:
- Nuclear Science at UiO
- Nukleær- og miljøvitenskap (Nuclear and Environmental Science) at NMBU
In addition, NMBU participates in the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Nuclear Decommissioning and Environmental Remediation MINDER.
Together, these programs cover a wide spectrum of subjects ranging from fundamental nuclear physics and nuclear chemistry to applications of nuclear science related to environmental radioactivity, radiation protection and preparedness, nuclear energy, decommissioning, and medical applications of nuclear science including radiopharmacy. Students have the possibility to take courses at both universities.
