Targeted alpha therapy (TAT) is an emerging class of cancer therapy delivering high-energy alpha radiation directly to the tumor inside the body. TAT is a potentially powerful new treatment modality and could give hope to patients suffering from life-threatening or difficult to treat cancers that are resistant to current treatment standards.
Welcome to this week's lunch seminar in the dScience lounge with Postdoctoral Fellow Azusa Inoue, where she explores how nuclear reactions shaped the first elements in the Universe and whether they could help solve the long-standing cosmological lithium problem.
Georgios Kalantzopoulos will provide an overview of career pathways at IFE in Kjeller and Halden. He will aim to address questions from curious students that want to understand how their studies can be translated into a career path. You are strongly encouraged to bring with you and exercise your curiosity. The presentation will be followed-up by Q&A
Neutronic Analysis of a Hybrid Maritime–Terrestrial Fuel Cycle in Fluoride-Salt-Cooled High-Temperature Reactors
Nuclear science advances our under-standing of matter while contributing to fields ranging from energy and cancer treatment to space exploration, climate research and heritage science. In this talk, Prof. Thomas Elias Cocolios from the KU Leuven Institute for Nuclear and Radiation Physics in Belgium highlights selected applications of nuclear science and uses insights from the NuPECC Long Range Plan to show how nuclear science helps address major societal challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In this open NNRC seminar, Dr. Alejandro Algora, researcher at Instituto de Física Corpuscular in Valencia, Spain, will present the total absorption technique and show some examples of recent Pandemonium free measurements that are relevant for reactor applications.
Recent advances in laser spectroscopy at CERN ISOLDE and muonic X-ray measurements at the Paul Scherrer Institute are opening new possibilities for determining nuclear charge radii and probing nuclear structure far from stability. Professor Thomas Elias Cocolios from KU Leuven Institute for Nuclear and Radiation Physics in Belgium will highlight recent results from the PI-LIST and ReferenceRadii programs and discuss how these measurements provide critical benchmarks for state-of-the-art nuclear models.
Hva er gravitasjonsbølger og hva kan de fortelle oss om universet? Og hvordan kan gravitasjonsbølger brukes til å forstå hvordan tunge grunnstoffer som gull blir dannet?
Assoc. prof. Ali Al-Adili, Uppsala University
