How many more neutrons can be added to a given atomic nucleus, and how do such extremely neutron-rich nuclei behave? These are fundamental questions for understanding nuclear structure and the relevant nuclear interactions at the stability limit. Here, we will present recent experimental results from the RI-Beam Factory (RIBF) at RIKEN, Japan.  Following a brief introduction to the characteristics of structures near and beyond the neutron dripline, we will focus on the recent experimental observation of the doubly magic nucleus candidate 28O beyond the neutron drip line [1]. We will also discuss the dineutron structure of halo nuclei, highlighting experimental results on the Coulomb breakup of halo nuclei 19B [2] and 22C[3]. Future perspectives on the spectroscopy of such extremely neutron-rich nuclei will also be explored.
