In his lecture entitled “Focused research to reduce the overall uncertainties in radioecological models”, he first spoke briefly about the history of nuclear sciences in Norway including the long-standing French-Norwegian connection especially within radiochemistry highlighted by the collaboration and friendship between Ellen Gleditsch and Marie Curie as well as with her daughter Irène Joliot-Curie and son-in-law Frederic Joliot.

The major part of Ole Christian Lind's talk, however, was focusing on how nuclear risk management can be improved by reducing the overall uncertainties in radioecological models through focused research and by taking into account radionuclide speciation in the models and by employing state-of-the-art analytical techniques.
